Crossing Disciplines

When the participants in our meeting are asked why they choose AAASPD's conferences given the many meetings they could attend within their own disciplines, they often point to our conference's broad inter- and multi-disciplinary nature.  Accordingly, we seek to maximize these types of dialogue within our programs, providing opportunities to explore both the edges between disciplines as well as the implications of major scientific trends that impact many disciplines.  Our meeting is also noteworthy for the active participation of the so called "science- reflective" disciplines -- for example, the history and philosophy of science, science education and outreach, science writing -- as well as our support for science and art interactions.  For citizen scientists, our deeply interdisciplinary nature provides frameworks for considering the larger contexts of science, including  its relationship to public policy.
